Baking Birthday Invitations

ADORABLE! Ever thought of having a baking birthday party? Kids love to bake, so why not throw a baking birthday party where kids get to bake or decorate their own treats.

Load up on sprinkles, frosting and loads of candy for decorating. You can decide to either have kids actually bake or have pre-baked cupcakes, mini cakes, or doughnuts. That way all they have to do is decorate. When everyone is done, take a photo of each child with their creation, that way they can take it with them. It would make such a sweet memory!

Baking Party Decorations

Make a banner to hang above the entrance to the party that reads: "Welcome to The [child's last name] Academy of Culinary Arts".
Balloons are a must at any party! Group three helium balloons together and anchor them with balloon weights around the party area. You may want to add a shaped Mylar balloon to each group as well.
Set the table with personalized placemats, silverware in fun colors, glasses with silly straws, cloth napkins, and plastic or paper plates.
Make a centerpiece for the food table by placing several kids cookbooks between two bookends.
Set out fresh fruit, such as bunches of grapes, apples, pears, and kiwi in brightly colored colanders.

If you want to get really creative, hang cooking utensils (mixing spoons, spatulas, whisks, etc.) and recipe cards from the ceiling.

What Do I Need For the Party?

Basic party supplies include paper tableware, such as plates, napkins, cups, and cutlery; a tablecloth, streamers, and balloons.

You may also want to rent or purchase other items to fit your theme, such as:
Various Kitchen Gadgets (blender, mixer, cookie sheets, food processor, etc.)
Aprons and Chef Hats
Cake Pans
Mixing Spoons
Cookie Cutters

Aprons and chef hats would make a sweet gift for each of your guests.

Mermaid Birthday Invitations

Looking at throwing a mermaid birthday party for your little girl. Here are some ideas to help you along the way. From party games to favors & goodie bags., hope these ideas inspire your next party!

Invitations

The invitations featured below will help you get on your way. Let your guests know that Under the Sea is the theme for this party, they'll soon be excited!
Decorations

The more decorations the merrier. Make sure your guests know the theme as soon as they arrive. You can spend a lot of money on decorations or keep them on the cheap. Here are a few ideas. Stick with the blues and greens for this under the sea bash!

To transform your party area into a mystical, under-the-sea wonderland, consider these options:
Scatter seashells, sand dollars and plastic starfish and seahorses on the tables and windowsills around the party area.
Cover the ceiling, walls and floor with transparent cellophane wrap to give the impression of being underwater.
Hang a banner near the entrance to the party. Check out our>personalized mermaid banner and let us do the work for you.
Tie groups of three or four balloons together and tie them to the backs of chairs. Anchor them with balloon weights and set them near doorways or in the corners of the party area. Scatter blue, non-helium balloons around the floor.
Fill fish tanks or fish bowls with water and plastic sea creatures, such as fish, crabs, and starfish.

Party Food

It can be fun for the host and the guests to include theme-specific treats during the party. For a mermaid theme, consider the following ideas:
Serve blue jello in clear cups. Before the jello sets, add a gummy fish to each cup.
Let your guests get creative by making and decorating dough dolls to eat or take home.
Serve goldfish crackers, sour gummy fish and octopi, and chocolate turtles in large, clean, plastic seashells.
Cook seashell-shaped pasta and serve chilled with a little butter.
Use cookie cutters to cut fish and seashell shapes out of peanut butter sandwiches, cheese slices, watermelon, and apple slices.
Serve soda, water, fruit punch, blue gatorade, or nanaberry smoothies with silly straws.

Tint cream cheese with blue food coloring and spread on bagels cut into fourths. Add one goldfish cracker to each.

Pirate Birthday Invitations

Ahoy Matey! Make your next birthday party a pirate theme. Boys or girls they'll love being a pirate for a day, have some costumes so each of your guests can dress up. It would be so sweet if you send them off on a treasure hunt and plant treats around the house and in the backyard. Oh the possibilities are endless! You can make little gift bags that include an eye patch for everyone to wear during the party and fill the treat bags with chocolate coins. Deck out the whole house or backyard into a pirate ship.

If you are looking for party game ideas, here are a few!

Walk The Plank
Construct a plank using an inexpensive board. I change up the length and width depending on the kids' ages. The board can be flat or elevated. Now, place a blue tarp under it for "water". Add plastic sharks or sea creature to the water for effect. Challenge your little pirates to "walk the plank" forwards, backwards, or sideways without falling into the water. Make older kids wear an eye patch or blindfold to make the party game for difficult.
Swab the Deck
Yes, I know that pirates swab the deck with mops, but I use brooms and beach balls for this pirate party game. Using the broom, the kids sweep the balls from the starting line, around a treasure chest marker and back to the beginning. Tennis balls, wiffle balls, ping pong balls, and golf balls can also be used. A fun individual or team pirate party game! The balls tend to fly all over the place.
Man Overboard!
Every pirate party needs a water game! Take a baby pool or large plastic container and fill with water, sharks, shells, and plastic sea creatures. Then, add the "man overboard", a small pirate figure of your choice. I like using a Playmobil pirate character from son's stash. The kids have a set time limit for digging through the water to find the missing pirate. At my parties, the kids usually have more fun getting each other wet than trying to find the pirate!

Take a look at this party!
